Cleveland, OH -- Justin Masterson continued his season-long dominance of Chicago and Ryan Raburn hit two home runs as the Cleveland Indians beat the White Sox, 6-1, to earn a four-game sweep. The sweep was the Tribe's second four-game sweep of the White Sox this season. The Indians have now won eight games in a row and 11 in a row at home, moving them to a season-high 12 games over .500. Cleveland now trails the Detroit by two games in the American League Central after an idle day for the Tigers. The White Sox have bottomed out since the All-Star Break, dropping 13 of their last 16 games. Chicago now owns the second worst record in the American League, ahead of only the Houston Astros. Masterson (13-7, 3.33) out-dueled Chicago ace Chris Sale (6-11, 2.92) in an afternoon matchup of All-Star pitchers. Masterson allowed just one run on five hits in six and two-thirds innings and has won all four of his starts against Chicago this season. He has limited White Sox hitters to three ea...

Bug flies up reporter's nose during interview

Another day, another clip from this week's Indians-White Sox series.  This time sadly it's not a depressed Hawk Harrelson clip.  Katie Witham of SportsTime Ohio was interviewing Indians outfielder Ryan Raburn after the Tribe's 7-4 victory when the interview got sidetracked by a bug flying up her nose.  Gross.  You can't see the little booger entering her nostril...

Batting third for the Indians, Ryan Raburn

The Cleveland Indians have won eight games in a row. They are two games back from the Tigers. If the season ended today, they would be the second wild card team. They have the best home record in baseball. And they have Ryan Raburn batting third last night against Chris Sale. Ryan Raburn batting third!? This is the same Ryan Raburn the Tigers ditched after a disastrous .480...

Justin Masterson, Ryan Raburn lead Cleveland Indians to sweep over White Sox

Justin Masterson did it again and so did Ryan Raburn on Thursday at Progressive Field. Masterson pitched 6 1/3 innings to complete a four-game sweep of Chicago as the Indians beat Chicago 6-1 for their eighth straight victory on a sunny but windy afternoon. Masterson is 4-0 with a 0.85 ERA in four starts against the White Sox this year. Raburn hit a two-run homer in the third and...

Masterson, Raburn lead Indians to sweep of White Sox

The Indians are all about keeping the line moving on the mound and at the plate. It has been moving well of late. Justin Masterson went 6 2/3 innings and Ryan Raburn hit two homers Thursday afternoon as the Indians completed a four-game sweep of Chicago with a 6-1 victory at Progressive Field. They have won eight straight games matching their longest winning streak of the season...

Raburn homers twice, has 4 RBIs as Indians win 6-1

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Ryan Raburn homered twice and drove in four runs and the Cleveland Indians won their eighth consecutive game, a 6-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday. The Indians have won 13 of 17 and completed a four-game sweep of the reeling White Sox, who have dropped seven in a row and are 26 games under .500 for the first time since 1980. Raburn hit a two-run...

Trend Spotting: The possibility of sustainability in the rotation

The Indians rotation like the Tribe in general has been a streaky and on the whole a productive bunch. Well, productive may be a bit bold. The instability of production, however, has leveled out to something fairly respectable and over the last month something dominant. The Tribe’s starting rotation has produced the following line for the entirety of the season entering Friday...

Indians 6, White Sox 1: You can bring your green hat!!

I didn’t get to watch the Indians sweep the White Sox on Thursday afternoon.  In fact, I only got to hear a little bit of it between meetings, so rather than give you a traditional blow-by-blow, I thought we’d talk about a few big takeaways as the Indians extend their win streak to eight games and come roaring into August with sole possession of a playoff spot. Justin Masterson...

8/1 Recap: White Sox 1 - Indians 6

Player of the Game I don't know why anybody would even attempt to win the Player of the Game when Justin Masterson is on the mound as he has a team high 11 POG awards in his 24 starts, but today he was beaten out by the Indians scrappiest utility man, Ryan Raburn. Raburn hit a two run home run to right, then later smashed a solo home run to the bleachers in left, putting...

Fantasy Baseball News Update: August 1st, 2013

While fantasy football is all the rage and I’m not one to go against the machine, you’ve got to face it, fake baseball play offs are right around the corner and my most important football drafts are still weeks away. This piece takes a look at last’s night action twitter style, including Justin Masterson picking up another win; Matt Harvey's struggles against the Marlins...

2013′s Valuable Bench Pieces

Cleveland crushed Chicago 6-1 yesterday, largely due to Chicago’s year-long inability to get anything going on offense and Ryan Raburn‘s huge day. The domination of Chicago’s terrible hitting was not all that unusual, but Raburn’s performance was awesome. He had three hits, including two home runs, driving in four. More impressively, two of those hits (and one of those homers...

Indians win sixth straight, team defeats White Sox 7-4

CLEVELAND—City of lights, city of magic. Progressive Field once again lived up to its late inning heroics Tuesday night as the Indians came from behind to defeat the Chicago White Sox 7-4, sending the team to their sixth straight win. The Tribe found themselves trailing the last place ChiSox 4-3 with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. For the second straight night, a player...

Indians rally to beat White Sox 7-4

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Pinch-hitter Ryan Raburn's two-run single in the eighth inning rallied the Cleveland Indians to their sixth straight win, 7-4 over the freefalling Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. Raburn, batting for Jason Giambi, who won Monday night's game with a pinch-hit homer in the ninth, singled off Matt Lindstrom as the Indians stormed back and won for the 11th...

Game 2013.106: Nationals at Tigers

Detroit Tigers: 60-45, 1st Place (2.5 ahead of Cleveland).  Today is Christmas in July at Comerica Park, featuring Santa Paws. He will have his eyes on you, Mr. Verlander. Will this outing be naughty, or nice? The Tigers won their 4th consecutive in the two-game series opener as Alex Avila was the unexpected hero with his first career grand slam. It was a big win because Cleveland...

Indians-Marlins preview

The Cleveland Indians are on the verge of their longest win streak in five seasons but are heading on the road, where victories haven't been plentiful lately. A matchup with the NL's worst team Friday night would appear to help Cleveland's chances, but the Miami Marlins have played relatively well of late and will have All-Star right-hander Jose Fernandez on the mound...
