Pro Sports Daily:
Right-hander Mat Latos will make his 2014 debut with the Reds Saturday, as expected, the Reds have announced (Jamie Ramsey on Twitter). Latos has spent the entire season to date on the disabled list, as he had knee surgery to repair torn meniscus in the spring and then dealt with an elbow strain while working his way back.
In four minor-league rehab starts on this last comeback, Latos had a 2.33 ERA in 19 1/3 innings. He threw 81 pitches in his most recent start, so he can approach 100 next time out and be fine.
Latos, 26, was 14-7 with a 3.16 ERA (121 ERA+), 1.21 WHIP and 187 strikeouts in 210 2/3 innings last season for the Reds.

CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds are not doing well at the voting booths, lagging behind with All-Star nominees. And the prognosticators and pundits see little chance that any member of the Reds will be voted onto the All-Star team.
Every team, though, must be represented by at least one player and there are at least four solid candidates on the pitching staff from which National...
Just when the Cincinnati Reds finally had their full arsenal on offense, they may have lost a big piece for a key road trip.
Though the status of Brandon Phillips is uncertain, Cincinnati might like its chances of having a positive start to a series with the Milwaukee Brewers as Homer Bailey takes the hill Friday night.

Despite being three games below .500 and eight games out of first place, the Cincinnati Reds have a relatively large crop of players who could potentially garner All-Star nods. The most obvious candidate for All-Star consideration is right-handed ace Johnny Cueto. Entering Friday, Cueto ranked first among all starting pitchers in innings pitched (102), BAA (.160), and WHIP (0.77...
It's been said before that everyone likes a winner. While this old adage is certainly true, it appears some people are more loyal than others. Specifically, when it comes to fans of Major League Baseball teams.Recently, two researchers from Emory University wanted to see which fan bases are more prone to jump ship or stay loyal during rough times. The researchers ultimately arrived...
For the Reds to turn this season around, the big names on the roster are going to have to come up, well, big.
Wednesday night, they did.
Johnny Cueto pitched like an ace like usual. And the big-name hitters came through as well. That hasn't happened a lot this year. So the Reds' 5-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers before a crowd of 27,014 at Great American Ball Park...
Last night, Johnny Cueto dominated the Dodgers, punching out 12 batters in just six shutout innings. This wasn’t anything new, though; Cueto has been destroying opposing hitters all season long. Hitters are batting just .158/.218/.261 against him this year, good for a pitiful .217 wOBA, and he’s the easy early frontrunner for the NL Cy […]
A rabid Los Angeles Dodgers fan found himself behind bars Wednesday after being charged with criminal trespass, burglary, and obstructing business during Tuesday's game at Great American Ball Park. The man, West Virginia native Troy Sexton, was previously banned from Great American Ball Park due to an incident stemming from 2008. According to court documents obtained by the Cincinnati...
It wasn't a come-from behind win, but it sure felt like it.
After giving up a four-run lead in the seventh, Billy Hamilton doubled in Zack Cozart in the top of the ninth to give the Reds a 6-5 victory over the Brewers in the first game of the three-game series at Miller Park against the division-leaders.

In the research for the piece I just posted on Johnny Cueto, I ended up with a treasure trove of data on pitch type outcomes during the PITCHF/x era. It is really fun information, and so I figured I’d share a few tidbits here that don’t necessarily lend themselves to an entire post. This post […]

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Todd Frazier hit a two-run homer off Zack Greinke, who lost his perfect record at Great American Ball Park, and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-1 on Thursday afternoon for a split of their four-game series.
The Reds won the last two games to finish a 5-5 homestand that left them stuck closer to the bottom of the NL Central than the top.
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Billy Hamilton drove in the go-ahead run with a single in the ninth inning, and the Cincinnati Reds capitalized on four Milwaukee errors for a 6-5 victory over the Brewers on Friday night.
Hamilton lined his single to right off Francisco Rodriguez (2-2), the Brewers' closer pitching in a non-save situation. Reds counterpart Aroldis Chapman had little trouble...
