In an age where you need big money to win a championship, the Oakland Athletics have always steered away from shelling out the cash. Apparently not today, as the A's have traded for Rockies' All-Star Matt Holliday. It was rumored for a while that the St. Louis Cardinals would be the recipient of Holliday, but the A's gave the better deal in the end. Read more by following the link!

  • We better get more than just Greg Smith for Matt!
  • I can't believe that the A's owner is going to pay his salary
  • Yeah when is the last time a big time player went to the A's? Normally it is the other way around
  • no kidding, hopefully billy will sit on his hands for a couple of seasons instead of the constant tinkering which makes his team like a ride at six flags: it's fun but it can also make you vomit.
  • So glad he will not be in the NL central....GO Cubs!!!
  • Go Cubs, ha. You guys along w/ the Yanks had the two highest payrolls in baseball this past year and choked. You could have a roster consistent of an All star game roster and you would still fail... Here's to another hundred years.
  • This trade is a win win for the A's. They either dump him mid year if the A's are doing poorly. Or they keep him til year's end if they're doing good and get the draft picks if he files for free agency.
  • Lousy deal for the Rockies.
  • It effin figures... Why are we such cheap asses in STL. We have the best fans in baseball... Reward us please.
