via Instagram – Photo of the uniform that Matt Kemp gave to Joshua Jones Sunday in San Francisco. Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp is a superstar and it has nothing to do with his play on the field.  It has nothing to do with his ridiculous 2011 when he tallied 39 jacks, 126 RBIs, 40 stolen bases and hit .324. On Sunday night at AT&T Park in San Francisco, Joshua Jones, and his father, Steve Jones, sat in their front row seats for the Dodgers-Giants game. The boy was in a wheelchair. Early in the game, the father struck up a conversation with Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach. He mentioned to Wallach that his son, a Dodgers fan, was very sick and that his favorite player was Kemp.  The boy, who has cancer, is unable to speak.  Steve had told Wallach that his boy was dying. An inning later, Wallach brought Joshua a baseball.  Later in the game, Wallach mentioned Joshua to Kemp.  As soon as the game ended, Wallach found Kemp waiting for him in the dugout.  Kemp was waiting to go meet Joshua. Kemp and Wallach walked over toward Joshua and his dad and made the boy’s life, who you can tell was silently beaming about the interaction.  Kemp didn’t do it to be recorded for a good PR story.  He did it just because. “I didn’t know that anybody was filming it,” Kemp said Tuesday afternoon. “I wasn’t aware.  It’s just something I felt probably would have cheered him up a little bit.  Help him out a little bit. I just did it.” “As a parent,” Wallach said, “you can’t even imagine what they’re going through. You’d hate to have to imagine what they’re going through.” “I just saw a kid there that was a big fan,” Kemp said. “Hopefully, God-willing, a miracle happens and he lives for a while.” Hat tip to Yahoo!
