Sad to read about the passing of Matty Alou. I recall with fondness seeing the Alou brothers in various box scores for the Giants, although no doubt just a few because Matty went to the Pirates for the 1966 season.   Now we have that iconic photo of the three together, Matty looking so gentle. Chris Jaffe has an excellent look at the highlights of Alou’s career that includes the game in 1963 when all three brothers played outfield for the Giants, the first time a trio of brothers had done so.    Jaffe also recounts how Matty helped the Giants in the three-game playoff against the Dodgers in 1962.   In the ninth inning of that third and deciding game in Los Angeles, Alou singled and scored the first of four runs that erased a 4 to 2 deficit and gave the Giants the hard-fought pennant.    He also cracked clutch hits in Games 2, 4 and 7.
