FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) -- Brian Matusz pitched four hitless innings and retired his first 11 batters before a walk in the Baltimore Orioles' 9-4 win over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night. After a season that saw him sent to the minors and then return as a reliable reliever, the left-hander is trying to earn a rotation spot with the Orioles. He struck out seven. Chris Dickerson hit a solo home run in the third off Kevin Correia, who allowed two runs -- one earned -- and four hits in 4 2-3 innings. Minnesota's Justin Morneau went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts in his first game back after playing for Canada in the World Baseball Classic. Twins third baseman Trevor Plouffe remains out for at least several more days with a calf strain. Eduardo Escobar, who has just 59 games of big league experience, started at third and went 0 for 2.

Twins send Gibson, Thielbar to Rochester

Many Twins fans were hoping Kyle Gibson would be the team's fifth starting pitcher this year. Turns out they'll have to wait for his big-league debut. Gibson was reassigned to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday as one of a handful of cuts made by Minnesota. The 25-year-old right-hander, who missed most of 2012 after having Tommy John surgery, posted a 10.50 ERA in three Grapefruit...

30 Prospects in 30 Days: Aaron Hicks – CF – Minnesota Twins

Photo by: BeGreen90 Aaron Hicks is an outfield prospect for the Minnesota Twins who may have just officially changed his adjective description from prospect to “rookie”.  Going into the 2013 season Hicks was rated the 98th best prospect in baseball by mlb.com, but a strong spring campaign and a weak level of competition for the job may have just vaulted the 23 year old to ...

Q&A: Vance Worley, Deceptively-Diverse Twin

Vance Worley will be displaying his uniquely-diverse repertoire in the Twin Cities this summer. Ditto his deception. Acquired by Minnesota from the Phillies in the Ben Revere deal, the 25-year-old right-hander throws six different pitches. They include a four-seam fastball that acts like a cutter and a cutter that acts like a slider. His delivery has produced a k-swing% markedly...

Harden hopes to renew career with Twins

By Craig HandelSpecial to FOXSportsNorth.com FORT MYERS, Fla. Six years. Maybe seven. That's the last time Rich Harden's shoulder felt as good as it has the past few weeks. His right arm has been at the right angle, his elbow where it should be. The ball came out of his hand the way he wanted, and what's best is he's starting to throw instinctively. "I didn...
