Groin Injury Giving Walters A Shot

P.J. Walters  Samuel Deduno, who pitched extremely well at the WBC, suffered a groin injury during the championship game. He is expected to be out for only a couple weeks at most. This will give P.J. Walters a shot at starting today as the Twins take on the Tampa Bay Rays. However, even if Walters does well today, I still think that Deduno earned a shot at the 5th spot in the...

Twins' Hicks named Opening Day center fielder

The Minnesota Twins' center field job is officially Aaron Hicks'. The Twins announced via Twitter on Sunday that manager Ron Gardenhire has named Hicks as the team's center fielder on Opening Day. That means the 23-year-old Hicks will make his major league debut April 1 at Target Field without ever playing a game at Triple A. Hicks entered camp as perhaps the favorite...

Let Gardenhire go? THAT would be lame

The Twins, they do things differently. One veteran player still can't believe that the team essentially fired bench coach Scott Ulger and hitting coach Joe Vavra at the end of last season ... then turned around and made Ulger the first-base coach and Vavra the third-base coach. Hey, this is an outfit that fired Bill Smith as general manager after the 2011 season ... then rehired...

Twins rumors: Minnesota not monitoring Kyle Lohse

The Minnesota Twins are not among the teams that are scouting free agent Kyle Lohse as he works out in Arizona, according to Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN. In case you're curious, #MNTwins are not among the teams watching Lohse throw simulated games in AZ. Official: "Why go? He's playing catch." — Darren Wolfson (@DarrenWolfson) March 24, 2013 ...

Decisions on futures of Rule 5 picks Fields, Pressly to be made soon

As spring training comes to a close, players selected in December's Rule 5 draft are faced with great uncertainty due to the unusual rules surrounding the event. If a player selected in the draft does not stay on the claiming team's 25-man roster for the entire season, he must be offered back to his original team instead of being sent to the minors. If the claiming team wants...

Way to go, Minnesota

Because the state of Minnesota is grossly maladjusted in their perspective as to what the caliber of their college basketball program is, they were disappointed that the Gophers only won their first tournament game since 1997. And even then, the win in 1997 was mired in academic scandal. The last clean tournament win was 20 years ago! The Gophers were awful for 6 years under Dan...
