By Dave Buscema, The Sports Xchange NEW YORK -- The Braves followed a familiar formula Saturday, getting another strong pitching performance from Kris Medlen, but this time Atlanta added a little more offense than it had produced recently. With help from a career high-tying four hits, a homer and four RBI from Brian McCann, the Braves produced an 11-3 win in a game delayed by rain for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Medlen (8-1) pitched six innings of two-run ball, extending the Braves' scoreless streak to 31 innings before the Mets scored in the fourth, and Atlanta won its fourth in a row. The run also marked the first earned one scored against Medlen in 40 2/3 innings. The Braves have won Medlen's last 19 starts, spread over three years. However, after squeaking by while scoring five runs in their previous three wins, the Braves put up 17 hits, including the big day from McCann, who homered and doubled for his first extra-base hits since July 31. Eric Hinske also homered, w...

Dugout DIgest - they're back!

Brian McCann and Dan Uggla struggled through August, putting a giant hole in the middle of the Braves lineup. Yesterday in Flushing against the Mets, the two rebounded in an amazing way. With Kris Medlen on the mound, Atlanta smashed New York 11-3. Uggla reached base five times, while McCann reached four times. The two combined for seven runs scored and four RBI in the Braves'...

GIFcap: Best Pitches Of The Week – Anderson, Britton, Dickey, Verlander, Medlen, Kershaw

I know I have Brett Anderson‘s slider on Best Of The Week a lot, but I mean … look at it. —– GIFcap: Hate To Invoke Greg Maddux, But Kris Medlen Looked Like Him Yesterday —– I was actually unaware that Zach Britton had stuff like that before I started doing this. Hef Hassled By Brave’s Bats In 11-3 Mets Loss

The Mets (65-74) lost to the Braves (80-60) by the score of 11-3 on Saturday evening at Citi Field. Apparently, Kris Medlen is not beatable. (How the hell do you win 19 straight games under one pitcher?). He did, however, lose his no-ER run streak against the Mets. I guess that is a moral victory. But yeah, we lost. Rain delay and all, it was not a fun day for baseball. Jeremy...

Chipper Jones and the Braves got the better of the Mets one more time. Brian McCann homered and drove in the go-ahead run in extra innings to give Atlanta a 3-2 win over the Mets on Sunday in Chipper Jones' final game in New York. Jones did not start, but manager Fredi Gonzalez sent him out with the lineup card before the game and the retiring Braves star got a warm hand from...

Braves win needed series, last trip to Big Apple

Tommy Hanson struck out 8 batters through 5.2 innings Tuesday When the full story of the 2012 season is written, there will be two story lines for the Atlanta Braves: A streaky team who, when winning, shows absolute dominance, and a team that pressed on despite the various pieces not clicking all at once. The latter of those story lines was on display against the Colorado Rockies...
