Troy Renck over at the All Things Rockies Blog is reporting that the Mets have signed former Colorado Rockies outfielder Cory Sullivan to a one year contract.
Sullivan will make a $600,000 base salary which could increase to $900,000 based on incentives.
It appears that the Mets will use Sullivan in the role that Endy Chavez has filled for the past three seasons, a reserve outfielder with superb defense.
Last season for the Rockies, Sullivan hit for an unimpressive .214 batting average in only 23 at bats. He spent the rest of the season in AAA.
The 29 year old outfielder absolutely tore it up in the minors hitting .320 with 7 home runs and 47 RBIs.
Sullivan will figure to be apart of the newly reassembled bench, which already includes OF Jeremy Reed, IF Alex Cora, and C Ramon Castro among others.
