TEAMS: New York Yankees, New York Mets
The Yankees swept round one of the Subway Series in the last go around and it sounds like the Mets are out for revenge. Mets closer, Frank Francisco, started the trash talking early.
“I can’t wait to face those chickens,” Francisco told Mike Puma of the NY Post. “I want to strike out the side against them. I’ve done it before.”
That’s kind of funny coming from a guy who didn’t pitch at all in the last series because the Mets never needed their closer. Hopefully the Yankees will at least let the Mets come close enough to winning this time around that Francisco at least warms up this time.
Despite the fact that Francisco is in the middle of the worst season of his career, he has actually done well against the Yankees and has held the current lineup to a .213/.280/.347 line. The best hitter against him is Curtis Granderson, who is 3-for-6 with a home run and a triple against him. Alex Rodriguez also homered off him.
