Scott Kazmir was released this Wednesday by the Angels after posting a 17.02 ERA in five Triple-A starts.  His release should be intriguing to many teams, seeing as how Kazmir is only 27 years old and was at one point, the ace of the Tampa Bay Rays staff. Kazmir is even more intriguing for the New York Mets, the team which originally drafted him, only to infamously trade him to Tampa along with a first round pick for Victor Zambrano, and any Met’s fan will tell you how that one worked out. According to the New York Daily News, Mets GM Sandy Alderson said that the team would at least consider adding Kazmir: “We look at everybody who hits the wire, and the same would apply to him,” said the GM, who is typically willing to shoot down speculation about players in whom he is not interested.
