Last Night’s Quick Scores Las Vegas dropped to Reno, 6-5. Binghamton topped Altoona, 8-5. St. Lucie game was postponed due to rain.  Savannah defeated Greenville, 8-3. Prospect Pipeline Welcome back Brandon Nimmo! Nimmo finally returned from his stint on the disabled list, and was in the lineup for Savannah last night batting second, and playing center field. It was his first game back since April 29, and it showed. Nimmo was 0-for-5 at the plate, extending his hitless streak from before going on the DL to 0-for-25. Noah Syndergaard was perfect last night before the St. Lucie game was suspended by rain. The game will continue today but we’re not sure who will be pitching when the game resumes. First Base Watch: I noticed Ike Davis re-positioned his hands during last night’s game — he isn’t holding them over his head anymore, and they’re closer to his shoulders now (he must have read my piece on Fixing Ike Davis the other day). However, he is still dropping his hands way too low a...

4 Potential Draft Targets for the Mets

With the MLB Draft only 8 days away, it’s that time of year to start looking at potential draft targets for the New York Mets. I find the Rule 4 MLB Draft one of the most interesting drafts to preview because of the fact that it involves both High School and College aged players together. Like most other sports, scout’s perspectives on prospects are always changing. As a result...

Mets Drop Ike Davis To Eighth In Order; Honor Mariano Rivera

Assuming the Mets play tonight, Ike Davis will bat in the eighth slot. Terry Collins didn’t give a good explanation for the drop in the order, simply saying he wanted to get Marlon Byrd in the game and separate his lefty hitters. Of course, he could do that without dropping Davis. However, the only thing lower than batting eighth is Triple-A Las Vegas, but the Mets don’t want...

Is Bobby Parnell Finally Growing Up?

I have always been dubious about Bobby Parnell. Despite the electric fastball, he’s struggled with his command, control and composure on the mound. I always felt that Parnell had the most hittable 98-mph fastball in the history of the game. I personally was ready to give up on him last year, and suggested it was time to move on since he was due a hefty arbitration pay raise in...

Mets vs Yankees: Turner At 1B Leading Off, Lagares In CF, Quintanilla At SS

Starting Lineup Justin Turner – 1B Daniel Murphy – 2B David Wright – 3B John Buck - DH Lucas Duda – LF Marlon Byrd – RF Anthony Recker – C Juan Lagares – CF Omar Quintanilla – SS Game Notes Prior to tonight’s game, the Mets placed infielder Ruben Tejada on the 15-Day Disabled List with a right quad strain and selected the contract of infielder Omar Quintanilla...

Mets Game Notes: Wright and Murphy Killing It Against Yankees

Game Notes Prior to tonight’s game, the Mets placed infielder Ruben Tejada on the 15-Day Disabled List with a right quad strain and selected the contract of infielder Omar Quintanilla from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League. Quintanilla will wear #3 and was hitting .333 (42-126) with 26 runs scored, nine doubles, two triples, two home runs and 18 RBI in 47 games for Las...

Hot-Hitting Satin Drives In Four In 7-1 Vegas Win

Las Vegas 7, Reno 1 Josh Satin caught wind of Ike Davis showing signs of life at the plate and decided that he needed to step it up a notch – so he ripped four hits and drove in four runs in this 7-1 Las Vegas victory. On the pitching end of the victory was Carlos Torres, who has honestly turned it up a notch ever since I called him out in the beginning of May. I honestly don...

Mets place Ruben Tejada on DL

New York Mets' shortstop Ruben Tejada has landed on the disabled list due to a strain in his right quadriceps. MLB.com's Anthony DiComo reports that the Mets made the move early on May 30. Tejada strained the muscles chasing down a popup in the Mets' May 29 game with the New York Yankees. Tejada said that he felt a pull during that particular play, but it became even...

New York Mets Want to Make the Yankees Pay--Literally

If there is one thing that rivals often want to make their hated counter-part do it is make them pay. It doesn't matter if they won last time you played or if you did. They are your rival, and just because they are who you think they are (right Dennis Green?) they must pay. During the three game series with the Yankees (May 28-30) that is just what the Mets are planning on...

Mets 9, Yankees 4

Challenged by fed-up manager Terry Collins, slumping infielders Ike Davis and Ruben Tejada sparked a five-run first inning that kept the New York Mets sailing along in this surprising Subway Series with a 9-4 victory over the Yankees on Wednesday night. Tejada hit a leadoff single, Davis drove in two runs and the Mets won with Jeremy Hefner on the mound for the first time all season...

Um, guh? Keith Hernandez calls broken bat a ‘dead soldier’ on Memorial Day (video)

Like many jocks before him, Keith Hernandez has managed to parlay a successful career in professional sports into an equally successful broadcasting career, currently serving as an analyst during broadcasts of New York Mets games on SNY and WPIX. But for all his successes, Hernandez made a derp for the ages during the broadcast of [...]The post Um, guh? Keith Hernandez calls broken...

Yankees: Time to put a stop to this Mets

The Mets, yes that other New York team beat the Yankees for the second night in a row by one run. Last night was every Yankee fan’s worst nightmare, Mariano Rivera, ninth inning, 1-0 score, blown save and the Mets win. That is yuck, yikes and gross. Add on this little historic fact about last night, and you might literally barf: Tuesday's 2-1 loss to @Mets marked 1st time in...

Mets-Yankees Preview

If the New York Mets are to continue their current win streak, they must find a way to end their recent struggles at Yankee Stadium. The Mets can record a season-high fourth consecutive victory Wednesday night by snapping a five-game road skid to the Yankees, who have dropped three in a row for the first time this season. Though the first two months of the season have been rough...
