In an exclusive interview with ESPNNewYork.com, David Wright expressed uncertainty about his future with the ballclub. He indicated he wants his next contract to take him to retirement. He also noted he would not be inclined to discuss an extension during next season -- so it's an agreement this offseason or he's headed to free agency.
“The optimism is I’m hopeful,” he said. “It’s well-documented: I’ve really enjoyed my time here. We’ve obviously gone through some tough seasons. I’m not lying. I’ve really enjoyed it. I have a lot of really close friends -- not just players or coaches or anything. Front office. Ownership. Stadium security. Clubhouse attendants.
