Reliever Taylor Buchholz has reportedly recovered from shoulder fatigue, but is now dealing with depression and anxiety. He is back home in Philadelphia, working with doctors who have recommended that he not pitch while he adjusts to some new medications. Buchholz has battled with depression before.
Mets right-hander Dillon Gee is fighting through a dead arm period. He has thrown 87 2/3 innings this season, and gets the start on Saturday against the Yankees’ Bartolo Colon.
Former ace Johan Santana threw off a mound on Wednesday, and Sandy Alderson said the clock will start on Santana’s “spring training” once he throws another bullpen session and does not complain about soreness in his shoulder.” Santana is expected to throw again next week.
