The Mets have outrighted first baseman Nick Evans and outfielder Jason Pridie to Triple-A Buffalo. Both players have officially cleared waivers and have been removed from the Mets’ 40-man roster.
Each player has the right to declare free agency, but both are expected to accept their assignments.
Evans, now 25, is stuck behind Ike Davis at first base and Daniel Murphy on the bench. He has never gotten a full chance to prove he belongs and in 174 at-bats last season he posted a .256/.314/.413 slash with four home runs and 25 RBI.
Pridie, 28, hit .231 with four home runs and 20 RBI in 208 at bats over 101 games this past season.

Jason Pridie is Reminder to Stop WAG Star Prejudice
All this Penn State stuff has me desperate to tackle something a bit lighter, yes? Good.Late this week, my beloved Mets waived utility outfielder Jason Pridie. Pridie, who batted .231, stole 7 bases and did nothing particularly remarkable during his time-to-date in Queens. He may well be back, if he is not claimed.Regardless, he will now forever be emblazoned in my memory. OK, I’m...

Photo by Michael BaronOn Friday Adam Rubin provided an up-date on Ike Davis' ankle. The young 1B is back to working out and says the ankle feels good. I know Some feel Murphy was a serviceable option and for a game or two I would agree...
Goodbye Jason Pridie? – A good guy, but a decent fifth outfielder
Pridie hit .231 (OBP of .309) with four homeruns, 20 RBI, 7 stolen bases, and 48 runs in 101 games and 208 at-bats.
I feel like ever year the Mets have a fifth outfielder that either starts with the team in April or comes up to the team in May. That outfielder is always your slightly below average fifth outfielder, who plays good defense, but can’t hit. He also always stays...
