Peter Greenberg, the agent for starting pitcher Freddy Garcia, was a guest of Andrew Marchand on 1050 ESPN radio.
Greenberg said that Freddy Garcia hopes to decide by next week which team he will sign with. Apparently, Garcia has narrowed down his choices to the Mets, Yankees, White Sox and Rangers.
I don't see Garcia as anything more than a candidate for the 5th spot in the rotation, so I don't understand the Mets' interest.
I thought Tim Redding was going to be the 5th starter...
I thought he would compete with Niese, Parnell and Figueroa, and may the best man win...
If we do get Freddy Garcia, does that mean our rotation is set? (I sure hope not)
Last year, Garcia was 1-1 with a 4.20 ERA with the Tigers after coming back from a serious shoulder surgery.
I guess you can never have enough number five type pitchers...
