Mets Guy in Michigan:
Mets ornaments are special for different reasons. Some are hard to find. Some are linked to specific events. Some pay tribute to individual players. And others are special because of the person who made them. The baseball room Christmas tree is, of course, a great source of pride and family discussion. My daughter Caroline usually helps me set it up and decorate it.Caroline also is pretty creative, crafting all kinds of things out of duct tape, paper and anything else she gets her hands on. She's very good.Years ago, when she was just starting down the crafting road, she surprised me by making an ornament for the Mets tree. Ice cream sticks in majestic royal blue and magnificent orange, gingerly glued to resemble the coolest Mets snowflake. Or maybe a star. I'm not entirely sure. But it always will be special, hanging in a place of honor in the front of the tree.I'm in Illinois celebrating with family this year. Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas!

What To Expect From The Mets In 2012
Anthony DiComo talks about what the Mets could expect to do n 2012.
I’m not expecting much in 2012 from the Amazins’, especially with a team that must now overcome the losses of Beltran, Reyes and K-Rod from last Opening Day’s roster.
Like last year, they will once again be banking on a healthy return from Johan Santana who now finds himself a year older at 33...
Mets Edition: All I Want For Christmas!!
Stability: [stuh-bil-i-tee] noun 1: the state or quality of being stable.2: firmness in position. 3: continuance without change; permanence.I know a lot of people might say money, but in my opinion if there is one thing that the New York Mets need it would be stability. This is a pretty new problem for the Mets and not a problem when it relates to the team's front office. Since...
My New York Mets Christmas List
I celebrate Christmas in my household and despite being twenty-five years old, I still put together a Christmas list each year. However, I don’t mail it to Santa in the North Pole. I’ve decided to skip the middle man and just give the list to mom and pop. Unfortunately, I have nothing cool to ask for this year – just money. It’s going to be a blast...
Mounting Debt, Falling Revenues, Huge Concerns
Richard Sandomir of the NY Times writes that MLB is growing concerned with the Mets’ mounting debt and falling revenues.
But the Mets worry Major League Baseball enough to be seen as a troubled franchise on a short tether. Their $430 million loan on the team is due in 2014. Their $25 million loan from M.L.B. is past due and repayment has been extended. They recently borrowed...

Mets worrying MLB with their mounting debt
“Sports teams do not always make money, and debt is a legitimate way to fuel their growth, as it is in real estate, where Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz, the Mets’ owners, made their money and reputations. … But the Mets worry Major League Baseball enough to be seen as a troubled franchise on a short tether. They owe $430 million to a group of lenders that is due in 2014...

Gio Gonzalez Does Get Traded, But Not to the New York Mets
Last week there was some discussion that the New York Mets were interested in Gio Gonzalez. I didn’t think that an acquisition was likely, but we haven’t really seen what Sandy Alderson has in store for the New York Mets. Would he have been willing to center a deal around Ike Davis? My guess was ‘no’, but Alderson and the front office were still a wild...
Mets ornament of the day: David Wright, who is NOT going to the Phillies
Some silly Phillies fans are spreading ugly Twitter rumors that the Mets are going to trade David Wright to their goofy little team.Silly Phillies fans. The team would have to throw in Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, that bell they broke and a Pat's King of Steaks stand to go alongside the Shake Shack for us to even begin the conversation. For one thing, nothing good comes of a trade...
MMO Flashback: Ya Gotta Believe–Words To Live By
This edition of MMO Flashback goes back to December of 2008 when Rob Silverman who you all know as Tie Dyed, penned a heartwarming tribute to one of the all time great Mets, Tug McGraw. Enjoy!
Throughout our storied history, we’ve had more than our share of characters and colorful figures. The fist-pumping curtain calls of Gary Carter have been replaced by the dancing of Jose...
Oakland designated two the Mets should be interested in...
After the Gio Gonzalez trade the Oakland A's had to designate two players for assignment, two days before Christmas Laden Powell and Jai Miller found out they are no longer on Oakland's major league roster. Powell is the least interesting of the two to me because of the signing of Rob Johnson, Powell is a 29 y/o right handed catcher who was a first round pick in 2004 by Oakland...
Bats: For the Mets at Spring Training, Reminders of Seasons Past
In Port St. Lucie this spring, the Mets will see a lot of Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran -- just not in their dugout.
Mets grabbed headlines in a variety of ways
The Mets certainly have a way of making things memorable, don't they? From the opening days of January to the dawn of a hopeful spring, from midsummer injuries to late-year disappointments, from Jose Reyes to, well, Jose Reyes, the Mets managed to make a sub-.500 season both fascinating and entertaining nearly every step of the way.
