Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, It seems that the Mets are having problems trying to figure out where there next starting pitcher is coming from. The Mets like Oliver Perez, but the Mets and Boras price tag seem to put them miles apart. The Dodgers, Reds, Brewers, and Mariners remain possible suitors to land the lefty starter.
Derek Lowe still seems to be on the Mets radar because of his consistency and durability, but he has openly said he would like to play for the Yankees or Red Sox. His price has to drop before the Mets could consider him. The Mets would like to give a 3 year contract, somewhere between $12-13 Million. Lowe and Boras want somewhere between $14-16 Million for 4 years or 5 years guaranteed.
The Mets fall back option could be Jon Garland, who the White Sox and Dodgers could compete for his services. Interesting note, that Garland is two years younger than Burnett and has a better lifetime of record (106-89). I would not mind Garland and Wolf to fill the rotation, but that's just me!
