I'm not really sure why but the Mets have liked Ken Takahashi all off-season, at one point it was believed they were the front runners to sign him. Takahashi ended up signing with the Blue Jays but after pitching in one game he injured himself and the Jays ended up releasing him.Mets have swooped in and signed him to a minor league deal. As I said they must really like this guy, since they cut Villone and De Los Santos while passing on Ohman ( signed a one year minor league deal) and Jimmy Gobble. Takahashi is a lefty specialist who is better at getting right handers to ground out then he is at getting lefties out. To see him pitch go here...Takahashi throws a fastball, slider, sinker and curve, but I have also have a photo that clearly shows him throwing a circle change. Based on his walk numbers over the years I’d say his control isn’t phenomenal, but he is capable of keeping the ball down. source NPB tracker
