According to The New York Post, the Mets have signed Ken Takahashi to a minor-league contract. This off-season, the Blue Jays had signed the Japanese pitcher. Although, he was released today and the Mets quickly scooped him up. Takahashi, 39, had appeared in one exhibition game with Toronto after spending the first 14 years of his baseball career with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in his native country. Also, FOX Sports has reported that the Dodgers have signed Will Ohman to a minor-league contract as well. I do not understand why the Mets would pick Takahashi over Ohman. The Mets only have one left handed reliever in the bullpen and Ohman is the top pick.It will be interesting to see if Takahashi will be battling for a bullpen spot.
