Share this image:The New York Mets did not take kindly to jokes made by New York Post writer Mike Puma about Bartolo Colon's weight following the pitcher's win over the Cardinals on Thursday. The newspaper highlighted the game with a headline that read, "Lardball," and Puma opened his game recap with the following sentence:If the umpires searched Bartolo Colon’s neck for a foreign substance on Thursday, chances are they only would have found peanut butter.Apparently, members of the Mets saw the quip by Puma and were offended enough to essentially protest his presence in the locker room on Friday. In short, players refused to speak with reporters until Puma left the premises.Apparently angry about an article in the New York Post on Friday about Bartolo Colon under the headline “LARDBALL,” the players would not talk to the media until Post writer Mike Puma left the clubhouse. Puma was asked to leave and did so without incident. Within a minute, several Mets appeared in the clubhouse. The team would not comment on the incident. If the Mets are truly upset over the jokes made about Colon's figure, they better not browse the internet for sports sites, because it's safe to say just about everyone of them has made some fun at his expense at one point or another. With that being said, it's different for a blog or sports site to poke fun at Colon's figure and quite another for a traditional media source such as the New York Post to. It is what it is.Via The Big Lead
