He did a very nice job, and we’re hopeful he’ll have a long career in New York.” There is no doubt that having d’Arnaud start the year at Triple-A Las Vegas benefits the Mets from a variety of team control standpoints. If the 24-year-old spend the first 20 days of the season in the minors, the Mets could delay his free-agency by one-year (after the 2018 season until after the 2019 season).  Like Zack Wheeler, it is obvious New York wants to ensure that neither player receives enough service time to become a Super Two player.
