Despite Omar Minaya's insistence in the last 24 hours that they are done making any significant improvements, I'm not buying it. It sounds too much like... "We did speak with the Twins regarding Johan Santana, but we were not a good match for what they needed." Not even 24 hours after Omar finished saying he was done, several sources are reporting that the Mets are looking to trade Ramon Castro to free up some cash for an alternate move. Maybe a left fielder or a lefty reliever or even a second baseman? Castro is set to earn about $2.5 million dollars in his backup role, a role many in the organization believe can be filled by Robinson Cancel. (by the way, why do so many of our backups make so much money?) Castro may be a fine option for an American League team because he may also fill in adequately now and then as a designated hitter.
