Jerry Crasnick of ESPN is reporting that the Mets are attempting to sign Cody Ross, as a right handed bat Ross really doesn't make sense. Had he been signed instead of Hairston I could understand that but now with Hairston, if they sign Ross the bench will be righty dominated. Otherwise Ross can legitimately play center field and hit for power. Over the past 8 seasons the 31 y/o has averaged .261 BA, .323 OBP, .456 Slg. and OPS .779.
