I am sure, that no matter where you take a 94-MPH fastball from Justin Verlander, it’s going to hurt. New York Mets utilityman Jordany Valdespin took it in the one spot that no man ever wants to be hit. Oh, and he wasn’t wearing a piece of equipment that every single ball player should. We’ll let manager Terry Collins explain it to you: “You would think if you are starting at second base, you would be smart enough to wear a cup,” manager Terry Collins fumed to The Post after the Mets’ 11-0 victory at Joker Marchant Stadium. Valdespin actually had a nice game going for himself, as he homered off Verlander earlier in the game, but Verlander came inside on him on a bunt attempt, and being that he was square to the pitcher, there was no way of getting out-of-the-way in time. He went down quick and was a crumpled mess.
