Mets vs. Yankees Picks

By SBRForum.com

The weekend is here and we’ve got a couple MLB picks for you to look at.

The Mets are doing their thing right now and can be found in second place in the NL East. They’re winners of three straight and now get their chance at redemption at their crosstown rivals.

On Friday we’ll see Jonathon Niese come up against veteran hurler Andy Pettitte and the MLB odds have the Yankees as slight road favorites.

Pettitte has been hard to beat, but Niese has also settled down here lately and has already pitched well against the Yankees recently. He went seven innings, allowing seven hits and no runs while striking out six.

The Mets may be the dogs, but they just swept Baltimore so confidence should be in a good spot. We think they’ll win the series opener on Friday.

Next, on Saturday night, Chris Young battles with Ivan Nova, who’s 9-2 on the season with a 4.32 ERA. Amazingly enough, Nova is unbeaten in his last 15 road starts. Does that streak come to an end this weekend?

Young is finding his groove following a long injury layoff, but he may have wanted to avoid a Yankees club that’s patiently waiting to fulfill its potential. We think there may be a lot of runs in this one and so check out the OVER in game two of the series.

All of that leads into Sunday’s absolute masterclass showdown between R.A. Dickey and C.C. Sabathia.

If you love the Mets, you adore R.A. Dickey. The dude is 11-1 with a 2.00 ERA on the season and hasn’t allowed a run in close to 43 innings now. This is the real test on Sunday, up against the Yankees. We wouldn’t want to bet against Dickey though no matter what, nor should you.
