Zack Wheeler didn’t take the loss for the New York Mets Tuesday night although he certainly deserved so. This was one of the few times a Mets’ starter came away with a no-decision and it turned out to be a positive for him. Wheeler was his own worst enemy in five rocky innings as he walked six, including to the leadoff hitter in the fifth that eventually came around to score in large part because he failed to cover first base. WHEELER: Roughed up by Giants. It is not how Wheeler desired to finish his first season, and certainly not what the smattering of fans at Citi Field wanted to see in an 8-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Because Wheeler is on an innings limit, he might get one more start, next Monday in Cincinnati. It is up in the air whether Wheeler will pitch in the final weekend series against Milwaukee at Citi Field. Command was a problem for Wheeler in the minor leagues and at times this season on the major league level. This time, he had trouble locating his fastball,...

MMO Exclusive Interview: Zack Wheeler On His Rookie Year In The Big Leagues

Tonight Zack Wheeler takes on the team that drafted him for the second time this season. The first time the 23-year old faced the Giants, he was publicized as the “Robin” to the leading Cy-Young candidate and NL All-Star Game Starter Matt Harvey; perhaps unfairly so. Matt Harvey takes to Twitter to apologize for bizarre interview with Dan Patrick (video)

On Wednesday, New York Mets injured pitcher Matt Harvey appeared on the “Dan Patrick Show” radio program. It was a bizarre appearance and interview to say the least. Patrick, not surprisingly, wanted to discuss Harvey’s right elbow injury and the developing news this week that the pitcher has opted for rehabilitation instead of surgery to […]The post Matt Harvey takes to...

Ruben Tejada Breaks Fibula After Colliding With Andrew Brown

Terry Collins announced that Ruben Tejada suffered a broken right fibula, and will miss the remainder of the season. Tejada injured his leg while hustling to catch an Angel Pagan pop-up in shallow left field and colliding with outfielder Andrew Brown with one out in the top of the ninth. Tejada tripped over the sliding Brown, landed hard, and was slow to get up. He went back...

Met Fans Brace For Today’s Decision On Matt Harvey’s Right Elbow

Yesterday, Matt Harvey returned from seeing Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Florida to get that second opinion on the partial UCL tear in his right elbow. However, nobody was talking afterward. Instead, the Mets released this short and somewhat ominous statement: Matt Harvey saw Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla. today for a second opinion on his right elbow. Harvey is on his...

Wright Expected To Return This Weekend In Philly

Terry Collins told reporters that he expects David Wright to be activated from the disabled list when the Mets play the Phillies this weekend. Over the weekend I wrote that I’d bet anything Wright would be back in the lineup for the Giants series. Obviously I’m much better off playing mobile slots than I am at betting on when players return from injury. Wright continues...

Mets' Ruben Tejada diagnosed with a fractured leg

The New York Mets suffered a tough blow last night.  Shortstop Ruben Tejada was diagnosed with a fractured right fibula.  He had injured himself while getting tangled up with a teammate.  Tejada will, of course, miss the rest of the season. Right fibula broken for Tejada. Wow. — Marc Carig (@MarcCarig) September 19, 2013 For those expecting a gruesome injury here, forget...

Harvey will try to rehab elbow instead of surgery

Matt Harvey will try to rehab his injured right elbow without reconstructive surgery, a move the young ace hopes is going to keep him on the mound for the New York Mets next season. Tommy John surgery remains a possibility. Harvey will soon begin a strengthening and throwing program designed to last as long as six to eight weeks. If he feels pain or other symptoms that hinder his...

Mets Minors: The Week That Was, 9/9-9/16

The best news to come out of this past week in the Mets minor league system was the Savannah Sand Gnats capturing their first SAL Championship since 1996. The only bad news about that? Matt Harvey is only here to talk about Qualcomm, Dan Patrick. Not Tommy John surgery

New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey gave an incredibly uncomfortable injury to Dan Patrick on Wednesday. It was so bad I was literally cringing while listening to it in the same way I cringe when watching that scene in “Swingers” where Mike calls Nikki and leaves like eight straight messages. It was that painful. Harvey […]
