DC Double Play:
First baseman Michael Aubrey, who plays for a Washington Nationals minor-league team, did something this afternoon that is more rare than pitching a perfect game. The 29-year old from Shreveport, Louisiana hit four home runs in an 11-0 win for Triple-A Syracuse over the Durham Bulls. This is one of the few shining moments for the Chiefs this year, who at one point, lost 18 games in a span of 22 contests. Aubrey played some spring training games for the Nats this year before being sent down.
Aubrey was the 11th overall pick of the 2003 draft of the Cleveland Indians out of Tulane University due to his power potential from the left side of the plate. Injuries and struggles at the plate caused him to have his development slowed enough for him to not make it to the big leagues as an everyday player. He did play 46 games with the Indians and Baltimore Orioles from 2008-2009 and hit six home runs, but spent the entire year in Baltimore’s system last year without getting called up.
