It’s a beautiful, sunny day here in Clearwater Bill, Connie and I take our front row seats in the Tiki Terrace. We usually take this opportunity to verbally support our Phil’s and torment any opponent that comes in ear shot, ” Hey Skippy”, Twins outfielder. As we go thru our linage of insults I spot one player going thru his stretches and playing catch. All the while conversing with teammates in particular the rookies, minor leaguers who have been invited up to try and impress Charlie. This veteran of 12 seasons seems to focus his attention, encouraging, inspiring, teaching these future major leaguers. Of course I am speaking of Michael Young. Philadelphia traded for him in December from the Texas Rangers who had been utilized as a DH. At this point in Spring Training he has shown that his talent and ability to play everyday is evident , BA .281, OPS .694, 1HR, 12 RBI, 4 BB, all with 66 at bats, oh and only 2 errors. Remember he has not played 3rd as an every day player since 2010 w...
