Back on July 28, Miguel Cabrera was ejected from a game against the Philadelphia Phillies while facing an 0-2 count with the bases loaded. Monday night in Chicago, the bizarre situation repeated itself. Cabrera was run in the first inning of Detroit’s game with the White Sox, after falling behind 0-2 in the count. Just as on that first ejection, Cabrera appeared to do very little beyond mutter a few words to home plate ump Brian Gorman. Apparently, whatever he said was enough for Gorman to send him to the showers. Cabrera checked his swing on an 0-1 pitch from Chris Sale, which hit him in the knee. Gorman ruled that Cabrera had broken the plane with his swing and did not ask for help from the first-base umpire. Cabrera fouled off a pitch after that, then looked back to Gorman and said a few more wods. Detroit manager Jim Leyland picked up Cabrera’s argument, only to be ejected as well.
