It’s no surprise that Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera was voted the Player of the Year and the American League Outstanding Player by the Major League Baseball Players Association in their annual award selections. Cabrera, who posted a ridiculous stat line consisting of a .330 batting average, 44 home runs and 139 RBIs making him the first Triple Crown winner since the Red Sox Carl Yastrzemski in 1967.  Since Cabrera’s incredibly strong last couple months of the season, there has been a running debate over who will win the American League Most Valuable Player award voted on by the Baseball Writers Association of America. The overwhelming majority (99.8%) of players and managers that were asked who was more deserving, Cabrera or rookie center fielder for the Angels Mike Trout, suggested that Cabrera was more deserving.  It was the stathead analysts who favored Trout.
