PLAYERS: Mike Napoli
TEAMS: Boston Red Sox
After all the trouble that Mike Napoli‘s hip issues caused this offseason, it’s pretty ironic that he’s never suffered a symptom from the degenerative condition. That all being said, Napoli is in camp with the Red Sox just trying to get his work in and preparing for the season just like anyone else. Still getting his legs under him, Napoli made a diving stop at first base on Thursday, showing he’s coming along with his defensive work. The former Angel and Ranger also says that he likes the way the Sox are coming together, and their business-like attitude on the field. Check out everything Napoli had to say to NESN Daily‘s Jamie Erdahl in the video above.

Player Profile #25: Dustin Pedroia | 2B | BOS

On a whole, Dustin Pedroia‘s 2012 season was probably his worst of his career. However, if you dig deeper it’s really just two months (June and July) that weighed him down. Considering the amount of turmoil going on in the clubhouse around that time, not to mention his thumb injury, it’s safe to say that [...]

Jackie Bradley Jr's Opening Day roster hopes take a hit

The Red Sox have a roster spot available for an outfielder coming out of Spring Training. Unfortunately for young phenom Jackie Bradley Jr., the available spot is in left field. Bradley Jr. has yet to even make an appearance in left field throughout his two-year minor league career with the Sox. After being drafted 40th overall out of the University of South Carolina, JBJ has appeared...

Daniel Nava’s Hustle, Increased Versatility Make Him Important Piece of Red Sox’ 2013 Bench

Daniel Nava wasn’t even listed in the Red Sox’ media guide coming out of spring training in 2012. That won’t be the case this season, as he is proving his worth down in the Sunshine State. Nava got the Red Sox on the scoreboard in the second inning of Thursday’s game with a sacrifice fly to left-center field following a lengthy at-bat in which he worked the count full. It...

Red Sox rumors: Jose Iglesias may be Opening Day starter

Thanks to a concussion, Jose Iglesias may be an Opening Day starter for the first time in his career.  It's not his own concussion he can thank, but that of Stephen Drew.  The Boston Red Sox know who their every day starting shortstop will be, and that's Drew.  However, because of the injury, Iglesias could be that guy Opening Day. In fact, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com...

Andrew Miller the bullpen ace

In 2004 the Boston Red Sox were lead by a "bunch of idiots" with their fearless leader being a Jesus looking Johnny Damon. While atht curse breaking season is 9 years in the past this years team may have a bullpen of idiots, including Alfredo Aceves (actually an idiot) and Andrew Miller looking like Damon of 2004 or Jesus. Miller is in his 7th year in the major leagues...

Red Sox Assign Chris Carpenter, Three Other Pitchers to Minor League Camp

The Red Sox continued cutting down their roster on Thursday. The team announced that four pitchers have been assigned to minor league camp. Chris Carpenter, Terry Doyle, Oscar Villarreal and Chris Hernandez — all non-roster invitees to major league camp — were the pitchers reassigned. With the moves, the Red Sox now have 42 players in big league camp, including 32 players from...

Jackie Bradley Jr. Moves to Left Field Midway Through Red Sox-Blue Jays Spring Game

Jackie Bradley Jr. got his first exposure at a new position on Friday. The Red Sox outfielder was moved to left field midway through Friday’s Red Sox-Blue Jays spring training game. The position change came two days after manager John Farrell said he had no plans to play Bradley in left. Farrell downplayed the decision to move Bradley in the seventh inning, saying not to interpret...

Phillips gave Victorino interesting gift

Reds second basemen Brandon Phillips and Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino recently played alongside each other in the World Baseball Classic for Team USA. Apparently, the two have become pretty good pals after Victorino tweeted out the above picture of a pair of red Christian Louboutin sneakers that Phillips gave him as a gift. As you can see, the size 6.5 shoes actually...

Jackie Bradley Jr.’s Talent Is Obvious, But Sending Him to Minors Remains Red Sox’ Best Option (Podcast)

Jackie Bradley Jr. would be a lock for the Red Sox’ Opening Day roster if the decision was based solely on his spring training performance. The decision is not, however, so the Sox must weigh multiple variables in deciding the young outfielder’s fate. Bradley has been tearing up the Grapefruit League this spring, causing many of the prospect’s supporters to get very vocal....

Xander Bogaerts Reflects on ‘Great Experience’ at World Baseball Classic, Enjoyed Time Around Andruw Jones

While some players have been reluctant to play in the World Baseball Classic, Xander Bogaerts sounds like a guy who could be poised for another go-round in the future. Bogaerts was back at Red Sox camp on Wednesday after playing for Team Netherlands at the WBC, and the 20-year-old couldn’t help but speak glowingly of his tournament experience. “Awesome. A great experience,...

11:05 a.m.:  With a day game after a night game, John Farrell looked beyond his starters while filling out Friday’s lineup card. Among those in Boston’s lineup against Toronto are the organization’s top two prospects, Xander Bogaerts and Jackie Bradley Jr. The two are certainly at different points in their development — with Bradley making a bid for a big league roster spot...
