Red Sox fans were told that Mike Napoli had a swing built for Fenway Park when he signed with the team. It seems that was an accurate statement. Napoli lifted one over the Green Monster for a grand slam Monday to power the Sox to a 9-6 win over the Oakland A’s. Will Middlebrooks joined the fun as well, breaking out with his fifth home run of the year, hopefully a sign of things to come from the young third baseman. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is awarding Napoli our “Big Swing City” player of the game award after this win. Who’s your choice? Take Our Poll Join NESN Nation: In-game home page | Twitter | Facebook

Recap: Napoli powers Red Sox to a 9-6 victory

I've said it before and I'll say it again: It's so damn good to see Mike Napoli in a Red Sox uniform. Napoli crushed a grand slam into the Monster seats in the fifth that helped push the Sox past the A's with a 9-6 victory. After the A's got to Felix Doubront in the top of the second for a couple of runs, Napoli helped get the Sox back into the game. He followed...

Mike Napoli’s Recent Tear Earns Red Sox First Baseman Ketel One Honorable Moment

Mike Napoli entered Tuesday night leading all of baseball in RBIs, and a big part of that is due to his recent play at Fenway Park. The first-year Red Sox first baseman has wasted no time getting suited to his new digs, and the big numbers that he put up as a visitor to Boston have continued to shine through now that he’s in the home whites. Napoli has driven in right runs over...

Is this Mike Napoli sustainable?

Mike Napoli is so hot right now, but its certainly not sustainable If the 2013 Boston Red Sox season hadn’t already begun to look like a complete 180 degree spin from last year’s debacle, then Monday night’s comeback win should help convince the fans and the pundits even more. So far in 2013, the Boston Red Sox had survived thanks to their pitching and timely hitting. Down...

Napoli's 5 RBI carry Red Sox to win

Mike Napoli tried to downplay the question about playing in Fenway Park. Nope. He couldn't help himself. Napoli hit a grand slam and drove in five runs, Will Middlebrooks busted out of a slump with a three-run homer and the Boston Red Sox rebounded from a doubleheader sweep by beating the Oakland Athletics 9-6 on Monday night. ''I've been feeling good on the road...

Video: Middlebrooks, Napoli Power Red Sox Past A's

Will Middlebrooks laced a three-run homer and Mike Napoli drove in five runs with four of them on a grand salami to power the Boston Red Sox past the Oakland A's 9-6 on Monday night at historic Fenway Park. {mp4remote}http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2013/04/23/mlbtv_26508673_1200K.mp4{/mp4remote} MOBILE/TABLET LINK For more slices of Red...

Red Sox 9, Athletics 6

Mike Napoli hit a grand slam and drove in five runs, Will Middlebrooks busted out of a slump with a three-run homer and the Boston Red Sox rebounded from a doubleheader sweep by beating the Oakland Athletics 9-6 on Monday night. The Red Sox, swept by Kansas City in a split-doubleheader Sunday, scored three runs in the fourth and five in the fifth. Napoli's fourth career slam...

Mike Napoli Continues to Exhibit Masterful Stroke As Red Sox Outslug A’s in Series Opener

Red Sox manager John Farrell knew that Mike Napoli‘s uppercut, right-handed swing would fit in perfectly in Fenway Park’s unique dimensions when he brought in the former Texas Ranger over the winter. But it’s doubtful that even Farrell could have predicted just how productive his new first baseman has been. After a five-RBI effort Monday night, Napoli has now driven in a major...

Four Bases: Athletics 6, Red Sox 9

The Red Sox resilience struck again after being swept in yesterday’s double header against the Kansas City Royals. The Oakland Athletics got down early thanks to a Mike Napoli grand salami, and the bullpen was able to (somehow) conjure just enough to ward off the A’s counter punch. Here are the four bases: First Base: Mike Napoli offense has turned eyes, especially on his fourth...

Andrew Bailey and Mike Napoli of the Boston Red Sox named the American League Co-Players of the Week

Right-handed pitcher Andrew Bailey and first baseman Mike Napoli of the Boston Red Sox have been named the American League Co-Players of the Week for the period ending April 21st. This marks just the third time a pair of Red Sox have shared a weekly honor, joining Mike Lowell and David Ortiz (week ending August 26, 2007) along with Pedro Martinez and Trot Nixon (week ending July...

David Ortiz Not in Red Sox Lineup, Mike Napoli Hitting Cleanup As Sox Host A’s at Fenway Park

David Ortiz is starting to look better and better in the batter’s box since his return to the lineup Saturday, but he won’t be in the lineup to start when the Sox take on Oakland in the middle game of a three-game series against the Athletics. It’s unclear whether this is injury-related or just another day of rest for the designated hitter, but this will be the second game...

Jonny Gomes’ Bat Features Names of Tragedy Victims Along With ‘Boston Strong’ Message (Photo)

A number of athletes have used their equipment to pay their respects to the victims of this past week’s tragic events. On Sunday, Jonny Gomes will use his bat to pay homage. Will Middlebrooks tweeted a photo prior to the first game of the Red Sox’ doubleheader against the Royals. It’s supposedly of the lumber that Gomes will use. The bat features the names of the four people...

3 Stars of the game: Game 19

Power lead the Red Sox over the Oakland Athletics on a chilly night in Fenway. An early start (6:35) seemed like a good idea in afterthought seeing as the game still ended after 10pm. When the game ended it was a cold 41* in the park and many fans left early because of the weather. Those who remained were bundled up in their scarfs to watch the sox pull out the victory in the end...

Your Morning Dump...where the Red Sox may have a Closer controversy

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. Andrew Bailey, who shared American League co-Player of the Week with fellow Red Sox Mike Napoli, added yet another save in the team's 9-6 victory over the Oakland A's last night at Fenway. When...
