PLAYERS: Mike Trout
TEAMS: Los Angeles Angels
By Robert Cunningham, AngelsWin.com Staff Writer --  2013 Outlook: Although he didn't win AL MVP in 2012, Trout will annually contend for that title in the coming years. His skillset is unlike any player currently in the game and it is hard to imagine little, if any, regression from this young star. The fact that he is so young and could even improve is a mind-boggling thought. Some baseball analysts believe that Trout will regress based on how he ended the last 2 months of the 2012 season. They point out that the pitchers in the AL were adjusting to Trout. This is a possibility but there are other reasons that make me think otherwise. For one, it was a longer season than he has been used too and I think he tired a bit at the end. Two, there are usually a lot of new faces pitching against him in the last part of the season as September call ups and injuries bring new looks and pitches to the mound that Trout hasn't faced before. Finally, one very impressive thing about M...

Player Profile #9: Albert Pujols | 1B | LAA

He’s 33 years old and coming off a career-worst season where he posted career lows in runs (85), homers (30), batting average (.285), on-base percentage (.343), slugging percentage (.516), and walk rate (7.8%). Angels 2, Dodgers 1

Hank Conger pinch hit for Josh Hamilton and smacked a two-out homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Angels a 2-1 victory over the Dodgers on Saturday night in the teams' final exhibition game. The teams agreed to end the game after nine innings if the game was tied. Yimi Garcia struck out his first two batters before Conger drove a 1-0 pitch a few rows...

New-look Angels provide unique Cincinnati opener

Josh Hamilton is back where it all started. The outfielder got a standing ovation for his pinch-hit appearance at Great American Ball Park on opening day 2007, a moment that completed his comeback from years of drug abuse. He'll get another grand introduction on Monday when his new team, the Los Angeles Angels, opens against the Reds. It'll feel a bit like home. '...

Fantasy Baseball: AL West Offseason

LA Angels: New additions Ryan Madison (RP) and Jason Vargas (SP) will both be good options on the mound. Vargas, who put together a solid season on the Mariners staff last season, should see a spike in the wins column with the added run support. But, of course, the big story here is Josh Hamilton (OF). While he is a big injury risk, he is also one of the best power hitters out...

The ever evolving statistic: WAR

Over the last decade, sabermetricians (a term loosely used to describe people who use advanced statistics to measure past and future performance) have become all the rage. What once was a hobby of a certain slice of baseball fandom, is now a tool utilized by just about every front office in baseball. In the evolution of statistics, the key sabermetric stat is WAR (wins above replacement...
