The Milwaukee Brewers signed veteran infielder Cesar Izturis to a minor-league contract and have extended an invitation for him to join the club for camp this spring.
The 31-year-old switch hitter has played 11 seasons in the majors and the last three with the Baltimore Orioles. Last season Izturis only played in 18 games and batted .200 in 33 at-bats due to injuries.

Clearly, Milwaukee is not signing Izturis for his bat but rather for his glove. After 11 seasons he still continues to be an excellent defensive infielder which is something the Brewers desperately need off the bench.
