Frazier is surely happy after a Bats' win
and a promotion to the big league club.
Louisville 7 Columbus 4
-Jeff Francis (1-1) held the Clippers to just two earned runs in six innings, as the Bats (5-7) won. J.J. Hoover continues to impress as he struck out two in a perfect inning to pick up his fourth save.
-LF Todd Frazier was 2-3 with a double and three RBI. He was also called up to Cincinnati on Tuesday. 1B Daniel Dorn had two hits and an RBI. 3B Chris Valaika had a triple and an RBI. CF Denis Phipps and 2B Kris Negron each had an RBI.
Jacksonville 5 Pensacola 4 (13 innings)
-Pensacola (7-5) lost in extras Monday night. Starter Curtis Partch went 5.2 innings, allowed three earned and striking out six. Donnie Joseph threw another 1.1 scoreless innings, and still has not allowed a run on the season. Luis Atilano (0-1) was saddled with the loss, pitching three innings and giving up a 13th inning run.

Scott Rolen is healthy.
"Unbelievably, yes," he said. "I am."
Rolen, who is coming off his fourth surgery on his left shoulder, went 1-for-4 Tuesday night in the Reds' 2-1 loss in 10 innings to the St. Louis Cardinals. The hit raised his average to .135.
The shoulder isn't the issue.
"He looks healthy," Baker said. "He was healthy when...
Chapman has been nothing short of outstanding so far in '12
Why isn't Aroldis Chapman in the starting rotation? It's been a hotly-debated question amongst the Reds faithful this spring. And one expert in particular thinks the team could benefit more by having The Cuban Missile pitch every five days. In his latest column, ESPN.com's Keith Law highlights six...
The Cincinnati Reds started their
second series of the season against the Cardinals tonight, this time
in St. Louis. The Reds headed into the game hoping to recover from
losing two out of three at home against the defending World Series
chapmions and improving to one game under .500 and coming within 2
games of first place.
Johnny Cueto and Kyle Lohse both pitched...
For those of you who don’t show up on the weekends, be sure to check out the article I wrote on What the extensions for Phillips and Votto mean for the prospects.
4/15 Game Review
Louisville won 5-3. Box Score
Kristopher Negron went 1-4 with a double and a run.
Denis Phipps went 1-3 with a walk and 2 steals (2).
Todd Frazier went 1-4 with an RBI, steal (3) and a run.
You never want to make too much of a game in mid-April, but the Reds badly needed their 8-5, 11-inning win over the Washington Nationals on Sunday.
The Reds had lost the previous three in the series and blew a 5-0 lead Sunday.
"We would have liked to split the series," first baseman Joey Votto said. "We would have liked to win that long game (Friday). But you take...
I heard an interview with Joey Votto over the weekend and he talked a little bit about the Reds bats. He mentioned how they were in a slump and all it takes is one hit to end a slump.
Maybe the Reds got those hits on Sunday. In narrowly avoiding a sweep by the Nationals, some of the biggest slumpers currently for the Reds came up big. Scott Rolen was on base when Ludwick smacked...

The following interview with Eric Young, Jr. was purportedly done by 10-year old aspiring reporter, Haley Smilow. Eric Young, Jr. doesn’t have a whole heckuva lot to do with the Cincinnati Reds, but I’m sure not going to pass up an opportunity to lend a couple eyes to a young female journalist, so here ya go. — Amanda
Word around the blogsphere is that Todd Frazier hopped a plane to St. Louis this morning where the Cincinnati Reds are about to take on the Cardinals for the second time already this short season.

Last week wasn’t your best example of Reds baseball, losers of 2 out of 3 vs the Cardinals, losers of 3 out of 4 against the Nationals. At 4-6, this couldn’t possibly have been the start Bob Castellini and Walt Jocketty were expecting. The Reds offense is in shambles, but hey at least they’re pitching!
If you listen to us on iTunes we would certainly appreciate if you...
Forgive the delayed podcast listening, but in last week’s Jonah Keri Grantland pod he had ESPN Baseball Tonight anchor Steve Berthiaume on to take a tour around the league after one week.
When the boys were talking about the Cincinnati Reds, Berthiaume dropped an interesting tidbit on Joey Votto’s recently signed 10 year 225 million dollar deal:
“I think, think...

This expression by Johnny Cueto pretty much says it all about Tuesday's
2-1 defeat to the hands of the Cardinals

The sky looked as if it was the limit for Cuban flamethrower Aroldis Chapman when he made his Major League debut for the Cincinnati Reds two years ago.
Chapman dazzled baseball fans when he hit 103 MPH on the gun during his first outing on American soil. It seemed as if the 24-year-old Cuban Missile was destined...
