Bradenton will close out their season today with an early morning start to their last game. West Virginia was rained out yesterday. They will play a doubleheader today. The DSL Pirates1 won the second round of their playoffs Thursday and will now go on to play the Angels in a best of five series for the DSL championship. That series starts today. The GCL Pirates won the GCL championship Wednesday. Indianapolis will begin their playoffs next week. A full recap of yesterday’s games can be found here.

Irwin set his career high for season strikeouts in his last start

Triple-A: Indianapolis (85-55) @ Louisville (51-91) 7:05pm
Probable starter: Phil Irwin (2-0 1.69)

Yesterday’s Result:  Indianapolis 8 Toledo 4 (game story)

Phil Irwin will get his fourth start for Indy tonight. He also made 16 starts and two relief appearances for Altoona and a rehab start for Bradenton to open up his season. Between all three stops, he is 7-7 2.73 in 125.1 innings, with 112 hits allowed, eight homers, 22 walks and 113 strikeouts. Phil also has a 1.53 GO/AO ratio and a .244 BAA. He has struck out 24 batters in 16 innings since reaching AAA. In his last start, Phil went six shutout innings, allowing three hits, two walks and he had seven strikeouts. He faced Louisville in his second start, allowing one run over six innings, with nine strikeouts.

Double-A: Altoona (70-70) @ Erie (57-82) 1:35pm
Probable starter: Tyler Waldron (1-2 4.01)

Yesterday’s Result:   Altoona 4 Erie 1

Tyler Waldron will make his sixth start for Altoona tonight. He also made twenty starts and two relief appearances for Bradenton. On the year, he has pitched a total of 139.2 innings, giving up a system high 168 hits, with 14 homers, 38 walks and he has 87 strikeouts. Tyler has a 1.41 GO/AO ratio and a .298 BAA between both stops. In each of his last three starts, he has allowed one run, throwing a total of 17.2 innings in those outings. He has held left-handed batters to a .152 average since joining Altoona.

High-A: Bradenton (60-76 overall 31-35 2nd half) vs St Lucie (82-52 overall 33-33 2nd half) 10:00am
Probable starter: Casey Sadler (4-5 3.81)

Yesterday’s Result:  St Lucie 5 Bradenton 4

Casey Sadler will get the last start of the year for Bradenton. It is his 17th start, to go along with 15 relief outings. As a starter, Casey has a 4-3 4.05 record, allowing 77 hits, five homers and 27 walks in 86.2 innings. He has struck out 90 batters this year, with a 1.51 GO/AO ratio and a .247 BAA. In his last start, Sadler gave up four runs on three hits and five walks in 3.2 innings. Right-handed batters are hitting .216 against him this year.

Low-A: West Virginia (59-78 overall 36-30 2nd half) vs Delmarva (51-84 overall 22-43 2nd half) 1:05pm DH
Probable starter: Robby Rowland (8-5 3.41) and Zac Fuesser (3-6 4.03)

Yesterday’s Result: West Virginia was rained out

Robby Rowland will make his last start of the season today, his 19th start on the year. He has pitched a total of 100.1 innings, allowing 104 hits, nine homers, 23 walks and he has 58 strikeouts, with a 1.74 GO/AO ratio. In his last start, Robby went 4.2 innings, giving up one run on nine hits and a walk. In his prior start, he struck out a season high of eight batters. He last faced Delmarva on 7/21, allowing four runs on ten hits. At home this year, Rowland is 5-3 3.10 in nine starts. Zac Fuesser will get the other start, his 11th of the season. He has also made twenty relief appearances. Zac has pitched 109.1 innings, allowing 109 hits, nine homers and 44 walks. He has recorded 91 strikeouts, with a 1.38 GO/AO ratio and a .263 BAA. In his last start, he threw three shutout innings before the game was suspended due to rain.

Short Season A: State College (33-39) vs Williamsport (27-45) 6:05pm
Probable Starter: Jason Creasy (0-5 5.84)

Yesterday’s Result:   State College 3 Jamestown 2

Jason Creasy will make his 14th and final start of the year. He has pitched 49.1 innings, giving up 61 hits, three homers, 19 walks and he has 29 strikeouts. Jason has an 0.87 GO/AO ratio and a .305 BAA. In his last start he failed to get out of the first inning, allowing five runs before he was pulled. His previous start was against today’s opponent, Williamsport. He gave up two runs on five hits and two walks in 4.1 innings. He has been unable to get through five innings in each of his last six starts.
