James McDonald will be on the hill tonight for Altoona, hoping his second rehab start goes much better than his first. James McDonald looks to bounce back from a rough first rehab assignment AAA: Indianapolis (37-19) @ Columbus (29-26) 7:05pm Probable starter:  Brooks Brown (3-1, 4.33) Yesterday’s Result: Indianapolis 11, Columbus 0 Brooks Brown will get his seventh start of the season. He has also made six relief appearances. He has had trouble as a starter, going 2-1, 5.34 in 28.2 innings. He has a 2.40 ERA in relief. In 43.2 total innings, he has given up 43 hits, seven homers and 11 walks. Brown has 29 strikeouts, a 1.61 GO/AO ratio and a .264 BAA. In his last start, he went five innings, allowing five runs on nine hits, three homers, one walk and three strikeouts. AA: Altoona (21-33) @ Portland (30-23) 6:00pm Probable starter: James McDonald (0-1, 40.50) Yesterday’s Result: Altoona 7, Portland 3 James McDonald will make his second rehab start for Altoona tonight. He went on the disabled list in early May with right shoulder discomfort. In his first rehab start five days ago against Richmond at home, McDonald only recorded two outs before being pulled due to his pitch count. He allowed three runs on two hits(one homer) and four walks. If all goes well for McDonald in this start, he will be allowed to throw 80 pitches tonight. With the Pirates this year, he is 2-2, 5.76 in six starts. High-A: Bradenton (21-33) vs Jupiter (28-25) 6:30pm Probable starter: Robby Rowland (2-3, 4.81) Yesterday’s Result: Bradenton 3, Jupiter 0 Robby Rowland will make his 11th start of the season tonight. He has pitched a total of 48.2 innings, giving up 46 hits, four homers and 16 walks. Rowland has 25 strikeouts, a 1.35 GO/AO ratio and a .251 BAA. He has been tough on right-handed batters, holding them to a .180 BAA, while lefties are doing twice as well off him, hitting at a .361 clip. His strikeouts have really fallen off since a couple good games early, striking out just ten batters over his last six starts combined. In his last start, he allowed two runs on three hits and two walks in four innings. Low-A: West Virginia (30-25) @ Lakewood (22-31) 7:05pm Probable starter: Clay Holmes (1-4, 5.60) Yesterday’s Result:  West Virginia 4, Lakewood 3 (game recap) Clay Holmes will get his 11th start of the season tonight. In 45 innings, he has allowed 45 hits, three homers and 32 walks, while picking up 31 strikeouts. Holmes is coming off a strong start against Greensboro five days ago. He went five innings, allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks. On the road this year, he is 1-1, 5.02 in three starts. Holmes has a 1.67 GO/AO ratio and a .265 BAA. He made five starts in April, posting a 3.91 ERA and another five starts in May, seeing his ERA balloon to 7.36 in 22 innings.
