It’s a big day on the schedule as the two top pitchers in the Pirates minor league system go today, Jameson Taillon for Altoona and Tyler Glasnow for West Virginia. Stolmy Pimentel tries to continue his strong start for Indianapolis and 2012 3rd round draft pick, Jon Sandfort makes his season debut in the Gulf Coast League this afternoon. Tyler Glasnow had 10 strikeouts and just one walk in West Virginia’s win last Saturday. (Photo Credit: Tom Bragg) AAA: Indianapolis (53-28) vs Rochester (40-41) 7:05pm Probable starter: Stolmy Pimentel (0-0, 0.69) Yesterday’s Result: Rochester 9, Indianapolis 7 Stolmy Pimentel will get his third start for Indianapolis tonight. In his last game, he threw seven innings, giving up one run on four hits and three walks, with seven strikeouts. In his Indy opener, he threw six innings, giving up just one unearned run on five hits, two walks and he picked up seven strikeouts. With Altoona, Pimentel was 4-3, 3.61 in 13 starts. On the year, he has pitched 90.1 innings, giving up 83 hits, eight homers and 40 walks. He has 75 strikeouts, a 1.12 GO/AO ratio and a .244 BAA. AA: Altoona (34-43) @ Akron (36-41) 7:05pm   Probable starter: Jameson Taillon (3-5, 2.93) Yesterday’s Result: New Britain 9, Altoona 2 (game one) New Britain 6, Altoona 3 (game two) Jameson Taillon will make his 15th start of the season tonight. He has pitched 76.2 innings, allowing 74 hits, five homers and 31 walks. He has 80 strikeouts, a 1.28 GO/AO ratio and a .247 BAA. In the month of June, he is 0-0, 1.69 in three starts. Away from Altoona, he is 1-2, 4.80 in six starts, with a .297 BAA. At home, he 1.74 ERA and .214 BAA. Taillon faced Akron on 5/2, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings. He was one of three Altoona players named to the Eastern League All-Star game. High-A: Bradenton (30-45 overall, 4-3 2nd half) @ Charlotte (33-41) 6:30pm Probable starter: Robby Rowland (3-5, 4.54) Yesterday’s Result:  Charlotte 3, Bradenton 2 Robby Rowland will make his 15th start of the season tonight. He has pitched 69.1 innings, allowing 64 hits, six homers and 25 walks. He has 36 strikeouts, a 1.27 GO/AO ratio and a .249 BAA. In his last start, he allowed four runs on five hits and a walk in five innings. On the road this season, he is 2-2, 4.53 in nine starts. Against St Lucie on 5/26, he went four innings, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks. He hasn’t struck out more than four batters in any of his last ten games. Low-A: West Virginia (42-35 overall, 5-2 2nd half) @ Lakewood (28-46) 7:05pm Probable starter: Tyler Glasnow (4-1, 2.60) Yesterday’s Result: West Virginia 7, Hagerstown 6 in 12 innings Tyler Glasnow will make his 15th start of the season tonight. He has pitched a total of 62.1 innings, allowing 33 hits, six homers and 37 walks. He has 95 strikeouts, a 1.00 GO/AO ratio and a .153 BAA. In his last start, Glasnow went five shutout innings, allowing five hits, one walk and he struck out ten batters. It was the third time he has reached double digits in strikeouts. His season high of 12 strikeouts came on 5/23 against Lakewood. Glasnow is second in the SAL in strikeouts, trailing only Rafael De Paula, who has 96 and was promoted to High-A. Short-Season A: Jamestown (5-3) vs Batavia (3-5) 7:05pm Probable Starter: Isaac Sanchez (1-0, 1.13) Yesterday’s Result: Batavia 4, Jamestown 3 Isaac Sanchez will make his third start of the season tonight. He went five innings in his opening game, giving up three hits, no walks and he struck out five batters. He only lasted three innings in his second outing due to his pitch count. Sanchez gave up just one run on one hit, but he walked four batters. He pitched most of last season in the GCL, making a brief stop in the NYPL for State College, where he made three relief appearances and gave up six runs on eight hits and four walks in four innings. Rookie:  GCL Pirates (3-2) vs GCL Phillies (1-4) 12:00pm Probable Starter: Jon Sandfort (NR) Yesterday’s Result: Phillies 5, Pirates 0 Jon Sandfort will make his first start of the season today. The third round draft pick in the 2012 draft made eight starts in the GCL last year. He was on a limited pitch count, throwing a total of just 15 innings. Sandfort had a 4.80 ERA, allowing 11 hits, one homer and ten walks, while striking out seven batters. For a preview of the GCL roster, check out our article here.
