Over the 2011 and ’12 seasons with the Chicago Cubs, speedy outfielder Tony Campana stole 54 bases in 59 attempts. That may not seem like a lot, but considering that he only reached base 106 times through those two years, the ratio is crazy. In other words, he stole a bag 51% of the time he got on base.
Campana is now in the Diamondbacks system with Triple-A Reno. On Saturday, he reached base and couldn’t stand still so he stole second, third and home all during one of teammate Chase Anderson’s at bat.
It’s a shame that Campana is not allowed to steal first. He’s hitting .192 on the season.
