Minor league pitchers for the Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox have been given 50-game suspensions after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. The commissioner's office imposed the penalties Thursday under the minor league drug program. White Sox prospect Andre Rienzo, from Brazil, also tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance. He is 3-0 with a 1.08 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 25 innings this year for Winston-Salem the Class A Carolina League. Indians farmhand Harold Guerrero, from the Dominican Republic, also tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol. He is on Mahoning Valley's roster in the Class A New York-Penn League. Both suspensions are effective immediately. There have been 36 suspensions this year under the minor league drug program.
