MLB Network to Tap Matt Vasgersian as First Studio Host

When the MLB Network launches on January 1, 2009, (register and log in to see a complete listing of carriers), San Diego Padres play-by-play announcer Matt Vasgersian will be its first studio host according to Broadcasting & Cable. According to B & C, "Prior to the Padres, Vasgersian handled play-by-play for the Milwaukee Brewers.A He also was a member of NBC's 2008 Olympic coverage and among several other roles, was the lead voice for the XFL, the one-season football league that was run by NBC and World Wrestling Entertainment."An MLB spokesperson had no comment.
