Josh Outman is a talented young left handed pitcher that should help the Colorado Rockies.The Colorado Rockies and Oakland Athletics have agreed to a three player trade that sends pitchers Guillermo Moscoso and Josh Outman to the Rockies and outfielder Seth Smith to the A’s.How Smith fits into Billy Beane’s money ball scheme other than the fact that he is cheap is a mystery, but both Moscoso and Outman are solid starters that will help the Rockies rotation. Moscoso was 8-10 with a 3.38 ERA in 23 games in 2011. He started 21 of them. Outman is a 27 year old with a good upside. He was 3-5 with a 3.70 ERA. He started 9 of the 13 games he was in. Why Beane would give these two up for Seth Smith makes no sense, but many of Billy Beane’s decisions do not make sense on the surface and work out for the Athletics.Smith hit .284 with 15 home runs but struggled away from Coors Field where he hit only .248.
