Justin Upton and B.J. Upton have not played together for quite some time. B.J. had played his entire MLB career with the Tampa Bay Rays prior to signing with the Atlanta Braves just a little over a month ago. Justin has played his entire career with the Arizona Diamondbacks, although that may also be about to change. For years now, the Diamondbacks have pondered trading Justin. They have held off thus far, but they have also said that they will always listen. To his credit, Justin has put it all in the back of his mind, although his numbers are still not where many thought they would be at this point in his career. But what if the Upton Brothers were reunited? What if the Braves made a trade with the Diamondbacks for Justin and put him in the same outfield as his older brother? What sort of impact might that have on both players’ careers going forward? We may be about to find out, as the Braves are at least one of three teams reportedly showing a lot of interest in acquiring Justin ...

Report: Braves may change BP hats

The Braves reportedly will consider not using the team's retro “Screaming Indian” hats for batting practice after an uproar over the perceived racist nature of the caps.

Player Profile #188: Mike Minor | SP | ATL

For three years now we’ve been waiting for Mike Minor to live up to some of his immense potential. Minor made his pro debut in single-A back in 2009 after being selected seventh overall and went on to pitch 14 innings, striking out 17 batters while allowing just one earned run and nary a walk. That earned him a promotion to double-A to start 2010 followed by a short stint in Triple...

Justin Upton Is Not a Park Effect Mirage

Big news everyone – Justin Upton is still on the trade block. He has been for about three years now, and he will continue to be until he is mercifully traded to a team that wants him more than Arizona seems to. With yesterday’s reports about Upton’s availability, more than a few people on Twitter asked me about Upton’s home/road splits, and whether or not we should expect...

Reasons Mets should take a chance on Jair Jurrjens

There is very little that can explain what has happened to former Braves RHP Jair Jurrjens. It was only 2011 when Jurrjens was an All Star pitcher and some could make the case that he could have started the game. He struggled in three of his last four starts that season, before his season was finished after his August 30th start. Jurrjens and the Braves agreed to a $5.5 million contract...

Source: D-backs won't trade Upton to Padres

PHOENIX -- Scratch San Diego off the list of possible landing spots for Justin Upton or Jason Kubel. The Padres and D-backs front-office teams touched base about a possible trade involving Upton, according to a baseball source, but were unable to find a match because the player the D-backs are most interested in acquiring, third baseman Chase Headley, will not be traded. At the...

Diamondbacks may still trade Upton

Want to know why Justin Upton still might get traded? Consider: - The Arizona Diamondbacks have a surplus of outfielders after signing Cody Ross to a three-year, $26 million free-agent contract. - At least three teams -- the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Atlanta Braves -- have expressed strong interest in Upton, according to major-league sources. - Jason Kubel, the other...

WBC Team USA possibilities

This article was just posted on Braves.com. Can we please discuss... 1. How Kimmie looks like a gingery Mike Minor here. 2. Just because Braves are eligible to play doesn't mean they're going to. 3. What does "expected to compete" mean? Who is "expecting" this? Is someone forcing them to be on the team? 4. Since both of Freddie's parents are Canadian...

Sources: Upton trade talks still on

Justin Upton for Chase Headley? The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres have held on-and-off discussions about a trade involving those players since July, but the talks have failed to progress, according to major-league sources. The Diamondbacks, however, continue to discuss Upton with other clubs, including the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners, sources say, while also...

Report: Justin Upton Drawing Trade Interest From Mariners, Rangers, Braves

After signing Cody Ross, it seems more a matter of when, not if, the Diamondbacks will trade Justin Upton or Jason Kubel. So far, Upton is drawing far more interest as a trade target from MLB teams. The Mariners, Rangers and Braves are the latest teams inquiring about the star outfielder, according to FOX Sports. The Diamondbacks have an influx of talent in the corner outfield...

Sources say Headley for Upton swap has been discussed

You just never know what you might come across on the internet. Today a brief post on MLBTR really caught my attention. Citing “major league sources,” Zach Links writes that a potential deal involving Padres 3B Chase Headley going to the Diamondbacks in exchange for OF Justin Upton has been discussed on and off since last July. That rumored deal probably made a lot more sense...
