If the MLB rumors are true, could we see the Detroit Tigers sign Aramis Ramirez to play third base in 2012?
Ramirez has parted ways with the Chicago Cubs already, making him a free agent, and one of the top ten players available this offseason. True, he may not command the type of response from teams after such players as Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder and Jose Reyes, Ramirez will likely come with a much lower price tag attached. He could make some team’s holiday wishes come true.
Detroit would be a decent fit for Ramirez. While Comerica Park is much larger than the friendly confines of Wrigley Field, it is plenty open enough for him to pound out at least 20 home runs and a slew of doubles. He is coming off of a season in which he batted .306 with 26 homers and 93 RBI for the Cubs. At 33, his career is still at a top level.
Aramis Ramirez would be an offensive upgrade over Brandon Inge and Wilson Betemit.
While Ramirez is not known for his defense, unl...

Delving Deeper into Delmon Young
When the Detroit Tigers traded for Delmon Young in mid-August, I was ecstatic, as many Tigers fans were. We had just gotten a young power hitting outfielder with potential for seemingly nothing, and Brennan Boesch had been recently diagnosed with a thumb injury, one which the Tigers’ staff had no clue the severity of. Magglio Ordonez was also amidst a season-long struggle...

Hellickson has successful role model in Verlander
Some rookie of the year winners quickly fade away. Some grow into MVPs, as Justin Verlander and Milwaukee's Ryan Braun did this season. Tampa Bay right-hander Jeremy Hellickson realistically desires to fit in somewhere between those extremes. Hellickson this season became the first starting pitcher in either league to become the rookie of the year since Verlander in 2006.
