Found October 29, 2013 on Fightin For Philly:
Philadelphia-based Dr. William Myers is set to perform surgery on the biggest star in the MLB. Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers is the patient, as he and the organization are looking to get the 3rd baseman treatment for a bad groin strain. Cabrera will likely be the AL MVP for the 2nd consecutive year. The 30-year old hit .348 with an OPS of 1.078 in the 2013 regular season, actually improving upon his numbers from 2012 — when he won the Triple Crown. Cabrera was injured during the postseason, and received an opinion from Myers while the team was still playing. He only agreed to see Myers under the promise that the team would not shut him down, no matter what the doctor had to say. Cabrera’s Tigers were defeated by the Red Sox in 6 games in the ALCS. The groin reportedly limited his performance in the playoffs, as he hit just .273 with a .742 OPS during that ALCS.
