Despite being named the "smartest man in sports" by the Sporting News last year, former Athletics' left-handed pitcher Craig Breslow was forced to admit he had been outwitted by Twitter on Friday when the social networking medium informed him he had been traded to the Diamondbacks. Breslow was not the biggest name in the five-player trade that sent star pitchers Trevor Cahill to Arizona and Jarrod Parker to Oakland on Friday, so it was almost understandable why he was not the first player contacted about the trade by team officials. But one would have thought Breslow's pedigree as a Yale graduate, who majored in molecular biophysics and biochemistry and was accepted into NYU's med school, would have made it clear that he would eventually put two and two together. "I can no longer denounce the relevance of Twitter. It broke the story of my trade...to me," Breslow tweeted Friday night. Still, Breslow appeared to hold no grudges later, as he individually thanked Athletics' fans who posted wishes of good luck to him on his Twitter page. As part of the trade, Oakland will also receive a pair of Arizona rookies, outfielder Collin Cowgill and reliever Ryan Cook, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
