John Buck introduced himself to Mets’ fans in grand style. He carried his hot spring right into the regular season, and was the key catalyst on offense, which helped lead the Mets to a 4-2 record to start the year.
The 32-year-old finished the opening week of baseball with an impressive slash line of .400/.391/.750. The Mets new backstop mashed two home runs, and scored four runs, while leading the Mets and tying for National League lead with nine RBI. Buck showed his power potential, and also proved he has the ability to drive in runs without a hit with a few key sac flies.
