AMSTERDAM, N.Y. – Taylor Martin (Kentucky) pitched six strong innings and the Amsterdam Mohawks scored seven times over their final three at-bats to defeat the Glens Falls Golden Eagles, 7-1, on Tuesday night at Shuttleworth Park in the opening game of the 2012 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League Championship Series.

With the win, Amsterdam leads the series 1-0 and can clinch its first-ever PGCBL championship on Wednesday night with a victory in Game 2 at Glens Falls. The Golden Eagles need to defeat the Mohawks on Wednesday to force a winner-take-all Game 3 which would be held on Thursday night in Amsterdam.
