Yadier Molina is close to an extension with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Molina is close to a five-year, $70-75 million extension. His new contract would pay him $14-15 million per year.
It would be the second-highest annual average salary ever by a catcher. Joe Mauer’s current deal is more than Molina’s.
His contract could be finalized as soon as Friday.
